First Online Workshop on Spintronics Crossbar Applications in Energy Harvesting

The MultiSpin.AI project is pleased to announce its first online workshop, titled “First Applications of Spintronics Crossbar in Energy Harvesting”, taking place on Monday, 18 May, from 14:00 CET to 15:00 IST.

The workshop will be led by Pietro Perlo from I-FEVS and will introduce a novel perspective on the use of spintronic crossbars beyond conventional in-memory computing applications. While much of today’s spintronics research focuses on crossbars as analog accelerators for computation, this session will explore how simplified binary spintronic crossbars may support fast, low-energy edge-reflex functions.

First Online Workshop on Spintronics Crossbar Applications in Energy Harvesting

This approach is particularly relevant for future Edge AI systems. Robots, photovoltaic modules, batteries, actuators and autonomous IoT nodes often require immediate local responses to events such as overheating, low energy levels, shading or operational mismatch. In these cases, simple reflex-like decision intelligence placed close to sensors and actuators can help reduce computation, energy consumption and delay.

During the workshop, participants will gain insights into how binary spintronic crossbars can be understood not only as memory or AI acceleration elements, but also as a potential physical reflex fabric for safety-critical and energy-related edge systems.

The event is open to universities, research organisations, European stakeholders, companies working in energy and environmental technologies, and professionals interested in Edge AI applications.
